ELIZABETH AKAMO

BA

Elizabeth is a London-based artist, designer, and future architect with an interest in people-centred design, public buildings, and urban design.

She is a UAL Alumna – having graduated with a Distinction from Central Saint Martins on their Art Foundation: Three-Dimensional Design and Architecture course – and a recent graduate from the Kent School of Architecture. It was during her time at Saint Martins that her curiosity about spatial design was born, which developed further during her time at university. Elizabeth sees architecture as an art form with a people-centred approach to design; a gallery is as much an artist’s statement as the pieces it contains.

Her artistic background has enabled her to develop an approach to design grounded in creativity, curiosity, and innovative thinking, with an aim towards pushing the boundaries of architectural design. She is also passionate about environmentally sustainable design and designing to fit a circular economy; from January to June 2020 she participated in the Re-Fabricate Waste Reuse Design Challenge, which featured in the RIBA Journal Magazine.

As a member of the Black Females in Architecture Network (BFA) and Let’s Build, she is conscious of, and keen to improve diversity and representation in the construction industry and is committed to making a positive difference at every stage of her career.

Other interests include fine art, graphic design and tech. She has recently started working as a web designer with an interest in UX and UI design.
